When starting a website from scratch, you’ll need to build some authority within search engines. The more authority a site has, the higher it ranks. A great way to do this is through linking. There are many different types of linking tactics, and combining all of them is usually the best way to build authority. 

You can use internal linking pretty easily, as it’s something you do by yourself. Internal linking means that you are adding links to other posts on your website within each post. So if you have a post about NY Fashion Week, you can link a post you made about Paris Fashion Week within the first blog post. This will build authority for your site, and it may even garner a few more clicks from your audience.

External linking means that you’re linking to other websites. If you do this, you’ll want to link to websites with a good amount of authority, because this will increase your own authority. Don’t link to any websites with scams or sites that are unreachable. These will actually lower your own site’s authority in most cases.

Inbound linking is highly important for your own blog, as it will greatly improve your authority, especially if you can get inbound links from high authority sites. This means that sites that rank higher on search engines will link your page, providing their viewers with access to your blog. This shows the search engine that you are trusted by a high-authority source, which will greatly benefit your site.
